SPATIO-TEMPORAL ANALYSIS OF THE NAMES OF URBAN SETTLEMENTS IN THE DNIPROPETROVS’K REGION IN GIS

Abstract

The problems of creation and technology of functioning of GIS history of the names of urban settlements of Dnepropetrovsk region are considered. The technique of creation (based on a chronological database that was created) of toponymic maps for different dates, renaming lists, and a timeline for the distribution of toponymic changes in time is described. The methodology for creating generalized maps on the history of the names of urban settlements is developed. Such maps are: maps of the number of names of urban settlements, a map of the number of renames of urban settlements, maps of the duration of existence of names, maps of the distribution of the duration of existence of names of urban populated points by semantic classes. The distribution of the number of renames of urban settlements in time has been analyzed.
