EVALUATION OF GEOMORPHOLOGICAL SAFETY IN BASIN OF KHRINNYKY RESERVOIR (STYR RIVER)

Abstract

History of forming and change of regional geomorphological system in basin of Khrinnyky reservoir are analyzed in the article. Three stages of forming local geomorphological system are set. The danger of types of geomorphological processes during each stage is evaluated in relative scale. On the first stage (1958-1989) relief in studied area was characterized by the highest dynamic such geomorphological processes as attrition, shifts, rockfalls and karst. The second stage (1989-1999) related with dismantling of Khrinnyky dam that caused to weakening of geomorphological processes, expect water erosion that was intensified on the river slopes. On the third stage (since 1999) dynamic of geomorphological processes are increase again. But some processes are less pronounced, for instance attrition that causing of overgrowing of coast. At the present stage actualizes is problem of siltation of Khrinnyky reservoir. Particularly, more than half of the area of the reservoir is now occupied by silt deposits on which grow dense associations of aquatic plants. The situation is due to anthropogenic eutrophication of the water. The most dangerous process in the basin in Khrinnyky reservoir is karst that activates under the influence of anthropogenic factor in the immediate proximity to the construction of the dam.

Strengthening of geomorphological risks actualizes the question of the profitability of a reservoir and requires administrative measures.
