ANALYSIS OF APPROACHES TO ASSESS THE URBANIZATION LEVEL: THE CASE OF THE NORTHEAST MACRO-REGION OF UKRAINE

The article presents a comparative spatial analysis of different approaches to assess the urbanization level at the micro-regional and local scales. A comprehensive assessment of urbanization in the micro-regions of the Northeastern Macro-Region of Ukraine was carried out based on the results of cluster analysis. The cluster analysis involved 4 indicators characterizing the urbanization level of the territory calculated according to different methodological approaches. At the local scale, an assessment of the urbanization level was carried out for Poltava, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions using 6 indicators of housing improvement. Based on the available statistical information, the cities were classified according to the level of housing improvement using Kohonen maps.
